Welcome to the Through The Fence Organization
This site is dedicated to the information and communication about the Federal Aviation Administration's Through The Fence (TTF) policies. At this time (11/1/2009), the FAA is trying to maintain that hangar residences are "incompatable airport land use." The FAA is also trying to eliminate as many of TTF agreements of every kind where they can force the issue. The FAA is using Airport Improvement Grant (AIG) monies to "bribe" airports into eliminating the TTF agreements and all hangar homes.
The issues are centered on four areas. 1) Economic Advantage; 2) Safety; 3) Security; and 4) Noise (believe it or not).
1) As long as the TTF agreement holder does not have access to the airport in a fashion which puts them at an economic advantage to those on the airport, this is a non issue.
2) Safety can be dealt with by proper gates and pass access if required.
3) Security is improved by having people near the airport 24/7 and this never has been a issue.
4) This is the silliest one of all--the FAA contends that people with hangar homes complain about aircraft noise. Apparently, the FAA does not know that people who live in hangar homes do so because they like aircraft noise.
Thanks for your support.
